Futures betting odds

Futures betting odds are prices offered on an event that will be settled later, often weeks or months ahead, such as a team winning a championship.

Example price
50–1 or +5000 for a Super Bowl future1
Payout
50 times the stake if successful1
Typical market
Season-long championship markets, e.g. NFL Super Bowl winner1

Key points

  • The bet is placed long before the outcome is known; settlement happens only when the final result is decided.1
  • As the event gets closer, futures prices typically shorten, reducing the potential payout.1
  • Futures odds are expressed in standard formats such as fractional or moneyline, with the same implied ratio as any fixed-odds bet.1
