Gambling commission deposit limits

A deposit limit restricts how much a customer can put into an online gambling account during a chosen period, such as a day, week or month.

Required periods
24 hours, 7 days and one month2
Cooling-off period
24 hours before a limit increase takes effect2
UK implementation
From 30 September 2026 all online operators must offer gross deposit limits12

Key points

  • When multiple limits are set, the most restrictive cap controls how much can be deposited.2
  • A £20 weekly limit blocks any deposit that would take the week’s total above £20.4
  • The operator’s system tracks deposits and blocks further payments once the limit is reached.23
