Arbitrage betting odds

Arbitrage betting odds are prices from different bookmakers that, when combined across all outcomes of an event, allow a bettor to secure a profit regardless of the result.

Mathematical test

Applies to
Fixed-odds betting on events with multiple mutually exclusive outcomes, especially sports and horse racing12

Key points

  • The bettor places separate bets on every outcome at different bookmakers so the combined returns cover all results.12
  • If the odds satisfy the arbitrage condition, one outcome’s win offsets the others’ losses, producing a profit.13
